|July 5, 1992: An Unpleasant Experience|
2:00 AM: I was just screamed at by a car, right in the parking lot in front of our apartment. I came within a foot of it, I think, no closer than I had to just to get to my door -- but apparently that was close enough to activate the car's alarm system. But it didn't beep or whistle. Instead, a synthetic voice boomed: STAND BACK! PROTECTED BY A VIPER! or something like that. (Both an advertisement and a warning.) I nearly crapped in my pants.
