For some reason this "I just need a few gallons of gas" scam seems to be growing. Maybe somehow it's related to the higher cost of petrol. A guy in Indy got my buddy good with it a couple of months ago at 3am as we walked to our hotel from the bars. It seems like such a benevolent act to give someone money for gas....especially when you're so sure that they will send you the $20 back if you give them your address. I suppose panhandling has moved more into "one big score a night" instead of gathering those pennies all day long.

You haven't driven until you have lots of love bugs (also called double bugs of Plecia nearctica) swarming all over your car, obscuring the windshield so you can't see. They are so oblivious in the carnal bliss they can't get out of the way.

BTW they seem to be spreading.

We used to see lots of love bugs here when I was a kid. I've seen a few this year but no swarms.

Hey, B! I just got back from a trip to FL too. I also saw the love bugs, mostly plastered all over the front of my brother's snazzy, bright yellow car. It makes me happy to know that we were all enjoying the sun and water in Florida at the same time. (well, minus PJ, he had to work)
It was great to be in the humidity, eat fresh shrimp and see palm trees again. It made me homesick for New Orleans.

So I take it was a good time? With the crazyness that has become your life, you need some relaxation now and again.

From what I know, Labor day is still on my friend.
