What Is Your FEMA Number?
March 29th, 2006 by Editor BRed Cross came through and gave me accounts
Now I’m at your town getting golds in my mouth
I got this New Orleans bounce track off a compilation CD which was given to Xy by one of her students. I can’t ID it, and of course that’s driving me crazy. Googling the lyrics gets me nothing but a bunch of MySpace kiddies quoting the refrain: “What Is Your FEMA Number?” Anybody know who dropped this?
9 3 1 0 5 with the dash
That’s my FEMA number so give me my cash
I’m headed to the mall to shop at all the stores
Don’t matter if I go broke, you better get yours
Update: I did a little more poking around on the web, and I’m pretty sure this is by 10th Ward Buck and Da Dream Team. Check out his website and buy his DVD about Katrina!

I think it’s just a parody created by a radio station to the tune of “Laffy Taffy” by D4L.
March 29th, 2006 at 4:04 pm
Ohmigod. You’re so right Liza. At the very least you’re right about Laffy Taffy. Can’t believe I didn’t recognize, given how that’s getting played to death. And Xy said she hears them play bits and pieces of the track in question on some local radio station.
I have come across a couple references online that attribute it to 5th Ward Weebie. I wonder if it’s him?
March 29th, 2006 at 6:14 pm
B,
But have you heard 5th Ward Weebie’s “F**k Katrina”? It is AMAZING. Basically just an 808 and him. I heard it at the Quintron show during Lundi Gras and the place went WILD. It was one of those moments where you realize everyone is in on something and you’re not. I love that feeling. Gave me goosebumps. I went out and downloaded it the next day.
BTW- sorry for leaving w/o saying bye to XY and yerself! Getting out of town was a lot more difficult than I thought it’d be and the time slipped away. I had begun to plant roots!
Be well,
Dan

More research. I think the track in question is by 10th Ward Buck. Never heard of him before.
And yeah, Dan, I heard that one by Weebie. I think it’s called “Da Katrina Song” but who knows.
March 30th, 2006 at 2:15 pm
I think it says “Red Cross came through and gave me A COUCH
Now I‚Äôm at your town getting golds in my mouth” What do you think?
March 30th, 2006 at 5:18 pm
Fucking FEMA gave Stevie Wonder tickets to a Marcel Marceau show too.
I’ll never to ever give to the Red Christian Cross again. Even if Aaron Neville axed me to.
Off topic, Xy for Mayor! She looked v. dangerous with that power washer. She could go places with that.
Best of luck on restoration of your home!

And I need a fresh pair give me my 23
So I can walk to the conda store
Spend up the 23 so I can ask for more
I smoke, I roll, I gamble, I save
But I don’t know how I got broke in 2 days
I’m lose and I’m low
FEMA drop by and give me 50 more(oh)
Red Cross came thru and gave me a couch
Now I’m at the town getting golds in my mouth
(chorus)x2
(verse 2)
10th ward buck

She bought a new car
Aint got no insurance
She betta call state farm and get some insurance
Cause if FEMA stop her
They gonna take her sh*t
They gone pound it
She get a ticket
Now her money down the drain
Like a rain
Hurricane Katrina had us on the roof all day man
(chorus)x2
(verse 3)
Ya boy lucky

That’s my FEMA numba so gimme my cash
I’m headed to the mall, shop at all the stores

July 25th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
this shows how many bums and freeloaders live in this country
September 1st, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Well “jay” kiss our new Orleans asses! Your comment proves how many assholes live in this country. Not all of new Orleans is freeloaders, tons of us work our asses off but can’t afford to just up and start over so don’t assume that. And just cause people love their city don’t mean they’re retarded and let me tell you something, katrina was hell on earth and if somebody can make up a song to help make light of a bad situation then more power to them. In the meantime, keep on hating. Love it or hate it, either way you’re thinkin about it! New Orleans kicks ass and were all proud to call it home!
