Cowboy Nagin -- first time I've heard that. But he does speak without considering the ramifications, for sure. He ran as an outsider, a businessman, a non-politician, and indeed he has demonstrated a lack of political and diplomatic savvy. That's sometimes refreshing, and I kind of like his personal style. But I didn't vote for him and can't imagine that I will vote for him this next time around. Elections are coming up in April. We need someone with strong leadership skills. I hate to say it, but I think we need a politician -- a relatively honest politician. Do such creatures exist?

B, what's your take on your mayor? He comes across as a real cowboy. He seems to talk before he thinks, but he's also passionate.

Or, maybe a not so "mock" secession? A few years ago, I would have thought the idea absurd but I'm very intrigued and even inspired by the secession movement that has some significant support in Vermont. See these interesting links:

Terrific post, well said. I too had rather hoped for a bit more on Katrina and a bit less mindless patriotism. GWB believes much, but knows little.
