Back on Campus

Monday, January 9th, 2006

I’m back in my office for the first time since August 26th. I was amazed to find everything pretty much just as I left it. If anything the place is cleaner than it’s been in a long time.

It’s good to be back, but things are a little different, a little weird. There’s a bunch of [...]

My Saturday Morning with SWAT

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

I thought we were done getting supplies from Habans Elementary several weeks ago. But we keep going back to Xy’s old school for more stuff.

The University wants staff back next Monday, according to information posted on the website. What’s incredible to me is that this news has only come out one week in advance. But after four months away from campus, I am more than ready to get back to work.

We Got Mail!

Monday, January 2nd, 2006

I was astonished to discover mail in our mailbox this morning. It must have been delivered Saturday, because I only filled out the little form to resume delivery on Friday, and I believe today is a federal holiday (since New Year’s Day fell on a Sunday).
And what cool mail it is:

A Christmas card from David [...]

And a Sweaty New Year

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Goodbye 2005. The general consensus here in New Orleans seems to be: We’re glad to see this one go.
I used to think of the year I lived in Sweden as the worst in my life, wrought as it was with teen angst and personal conflicts and the pain of apostasy, not to mention the cold [...]
