Floating

Monday, January 10th, 2005

It’s so foggy this building is just floating away.

Nobody Expects the Jehovah’s Witnesses

Sunday, January 9th, 2005

Xy and I were listening to iTunes over our stereo, and we had it cranked loud so we could hear it in the next room. Just as Jello Biafra’s great “Grow More Pot” rant drew to a close, there was a knock at the door. I was in bed, basking in the afterglow, ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo, so [...]

Sphere

There’s a UFO in my kitchen.

Saban Sucks!

Saturday, January 8th, 2005

It’s my turn to pick books for the Octavia Science Fiction Reading Club. That means I have to pick three novels on a theme, and I have done so. My theme: “Identity Crisis 77″ — science fiction novels dealing with issues of identity which were all written in 1977. My books: The Ophiuchi Hotline by [...]

Twelfth Night

Thursday, January 6th, 2005

Tonight is Twelfth Night, or so I thought. Everybody’s heard of the Twelve Days of Christmas, but few people (in America, at least) know that these are the twelve days after Christmas, starting on December 26th and ending with Epiphany, also known as Little Christmas, which is January 6th, today. Root Canal

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

Xy got her root canal. She’s drugged up — so what else is new? Actually the dentist didn’t finish the job, only phase one. She’s got to go back in for phases two and three. He also discovered she has an ear and throat infection, so she got a scrip for some antibiotics.

Newdow’s Back!

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

Dr. Michael Newdow is back with a vengeance. He’s just filed another suit against the “under God” phrase in the Pledge of Allegiance — this time with eight other plaintiffs. Strangely enough, the New York Times article about this doesn’t make mention of the fact that he’s also filed suit against the saying of a [...]

Reversal

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

I took the day off yesterday. Xy was back at school, so I had the place to myself. I spent most of the day painting the ceiling of our long, long hallway and listening to Pacifica Radio. I realized it was the first time I’d had to myself for weeks. I felt my spirits improving [...]

Dream

Monday, January 3rd, 2005

I woke up at five o’clock this morning with an incredibly vivid dream fresh in my head. I haven’t had such a vivid dream in years. (Some to think of it, I haven’t even remembered any of my dreams for months.) It was a long and generally realistic dream, with some funny details, like Xy [...]

New Year’s Fire

Saturday, January 1st, 2005

I haven’t been this deaf on New Year’s Day since the last time I saw the Walking Ruins.
